Red-tailed Hawk

Posted by Scott (Allentown, United States) on 8 June 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

I like taking photos of birds. That should be obvious to those that have been following this site. And I have a real strong interest in raptors, especially the big ones. This is the closest I have ever been to a Red-tailed Hawk that was not in a cage. I was able to creep to within about 15 feet and took a lot of photos. I will be posting 3 more in addition to this one. This beauty was eating lunch. It looked to me like it was probably a squirrel, although I wasn't about to get close enough to confirm that.

Photo taken in Trexler Park, Allentown.
