Part of the Magnolia family, the Tulip tree has been around a long time. Over 70 million years. It is a hardwood tree. Actually, the softest hardwood. It also is the tallest hardwood, growing as tall as 200 feet. It also can live to more than 200 years. A story is told that Daniel Boone carved a 60 foot long canoe from a tulip tree.

Well done, Scott. Nice detail in the leaves and the flowers. Thank you for the history, didn't know any of that!
